I will go on further to say that a good diamond is really expensive. It is a symbol of social status, allowing women to be envied by their peers, a sign of sophistication and class. When a guy gives her a diamond engagement ring, it shows he is financially able to take care and provide for her, an innate desire for security from ages past.

A diamond underlines the guy's desire to give up his wealth for her

Conventional states that the guy will spend 2-3 months of his hard earned salary to purchase the diamond (with corresponding engagement ring design), and underlines his thoughts of "What the heck, she deserves it!". Of course, he could buy a car and/or a house for her, but if he can afford THAT, he'll probably just give a (or many) diamonds too.

The diamond cutter has to tread carefully, utilizing his skill as well as his heart and soul to create the polished faceted diamond. The glint of the diamond, the result of light reflected upon the many facets, is undeniably eye catching. Attracting attention and admiration (especially if it's big and well cut), girls just love it!

Every diamond is different, it's almost impossible to find 2 diamonds that are exactly the same. Individuality and one of a kind, just like her. With diamonds that are in rare colors such as pink and blue, the individuality is more pronounced. It also looks amazing!
